Both gaseous and liquid substances in wide temperature and pressure ranges must be stored, transported and processed. In HiCAD the classical 3D modelling techniques are supplemented by standard part functions, sheet metal processing tools and steel engineering specific tools. If the thermal design is available in the order folder in HELiOS and data sheets are linked, the design starts. The HiCAD variant technology minimizes the effort for the creation of the offer design. Upon order confirmation, the folder is transferred, workflow-controlled, to the engineering department.
The scanned environment realistically represents the installation situation and ensures the correctness of the subsequent installation process. From the design, the product is represented in assembly and detail drawings. Standard components are available in the HiCAD catalogue in accordance with the industrial standards. Transition sheets complete the model drawing.
The automatic itemisation, by assemblies or drawing-comprehensive, is the basis for BOMs of any kind. If the customer releases a model drawing, the relevant folder starts its way into production. All changes made by the customer and supplier are documented and indexed in a traceable manner.
The manually created production drawing, with the writing of dimensions and annotations, is a thing of the past. The laser system for sheet metal processing receives its data from the automatic developments of complete sheet metal model drawings. The release of the model drawing solves all subsequent tasks without any action on the part of the operator.
Modular design is the major goal of many companies. The reuse of individual components for subsequent orders plays an invaluable role in this. The transfer of the product structure to HELiOS enables the production of a future product to be started exclusively from the bill of materials.
Every apparatus and every pressure vessel must be documented in a legally compliant manner. The work invested in the 3D CAD drawing is rewarded several times over with an automatic exploded view, motion simulation or output to a 3D PDF. The order folder can thus be closed successfully.

Since 1998, Berlin’s engineering office Gronow designs system technology for energy systems – including planning service, construction supervision and system documentation. Until 2003, managing director Holger Gronow relied upon drawings created with AutoCAD 2D.
