HiCAD 2023 SP1

| Laatste nieuws | Software Updates

With HiCAD 2023 SP1, the latest program version of our CAD software is now available. We have made every effort to optimise many functions for easier and faster handling. We have summarised the highlights of the version for you here shortly.

For more information and an overview of all new features, please take a look at our Online Help.

The highlights at a glance

General

Hatching settings
With this function you define the default settings for the hatching of sectional views, cut-outs and detail views. The settings apply to hatching in the current drawing and are saved together with it.

Easier identification of plug-in arrows
The plugin arrows - as they are used for example when defining a detail view of type cuboid or when clipping point clouds - can now be identified more easily. The arrows are already identified when the cursor is moved closer.

Mounting drawing - view group via assemblies
When creating mounting drawings it is now possible to create the view group via the active assembly or the selected assemblies.

Drawing derivation - Check part orientation of Sheet Metal parts
By setting the part orientation you can determine which view of a part should be the front view or the top view. This is also evaluated when creating the production drawings.

3D

Part and dimension orientation
Formerly, the functions for determining the part orientation and the dimension orientation were only available in the context menu for 3-D parts. As of SP1, you can now also find them on the tab. Also, the function icons have been modernised.

Dimension calculation - sorting of the attributes Length, Width, Height
If the automatic dimension calculation is active, the dimensions of assemblies and parts are automatically calculated by HiCAD and assigned to the attributes Length ($03), Width ($02) and Height ($04) of the part or assembly. As of HiCAD 2023 SP1 it is now possible to assign the dimensions to these attributes sorted by size, i.e. the greatest value is assigned to the length, the smallest to the height.

Transferring the part orientation during itemisation
Parts with the same item number now have the same part orientation - as with the dimension orientation.

Configuration of the graphic display
When working in sketches, especially when drawing sketch elements, various information is displayed during the designing process in the drawing, for example the length of the line, the angle or the radius of the arc.

Set fixed view point
This function is new in the menu of the function nominal position. With this function you fix the active view at a point associative to the geometry. You must define this point with a point option (autopilot, keyboard or Point options menu). Accepting the current cursor position by mouse click is not a point associative to the geometry and therefore not possible as a fixed point.

Feature and HCM

Sketch feature - Element snap mode
The user guidance for the Process sketch feature has been optimised.

Parameterisation of String variables via formulas
Up to now, only variables of the type Number could be controlled in the Variables table via a formula. As of HiCAD 2023 SP1, String variables can also be parameterised.

Deleting HCM constraints
The deletion functions for HCM constraints have been combined. With the newly created function you delete individual HCM constraints of the active 3-D part. If you identify a constraint, it is deleted immediately.

Configuration Editor

Units in the Configuration Editor
In the Configuration Editor, at Extras > Units, you can set whether the values specified there for lengths and weights are to be displayed in metric units (millimetres and kilograms) or in imperial units (inches and pounds).

Data exchange

2-D DXF/ DWG: New import/export settings dialogues
The import and export options for 2-D DXF/ DWG files have been extended by dialogue windows with the help of which you can conveniently set e.g. the processing of colours and layers, the conversion of units of measurement or the target version of the DXF format.

Sheet Metal

Sheet Metal parts from bend zones
In HiCAD you can now create and process Sheet Metal parts consisting of bend zones only. To create them, you can use the Sheet along sketch function or import a bend zone via the STEP interface. Afterwards you can, for example, carry out a bending simulation, development or a sheet thickness calculation.

Steel Engineering and Drawing Management

Steel Engineering

Railing Configurator - new base plate types
In the Railing Configurator, new base plate types are available on the Post - Sub-structure tab:

  • One-sided, no bore,
  • One-sided, 1 bore, and
  • 2 bores in transverse direction

Purlin joints 3204 and 3206
The Purlin joints 1204 and 1206 have been modernised and adapted to the latest HiCAD standard. Also, the connection numbers have been changed to 3204 and 3206.

Cross-bracing 2601 / 2602 - Distance of gusset plates from flange
From HiCAD 2023 SP1 onwards, Cross-bracing 2601 and 2602 can also be installed with specification of the distance of the gusset plates from the front or rear flange. This is used, for example, in hall construction. It may happen that a cross-bracing is to be inserted between two differently sized beams whose upper flanges lie in the same plane.

Drawing Management

Deriving parts and assemblies
Further derivation functions are available:

Derive article masters and linked drawings of the active assembly with sub-parts:

With this function a new assembly is derived (copied) from the active assembly (this also works for structure assemblies) including all sub-parts and all links. This means that article masters, indices, item numbers and all linked drawings are also copied.

Derive selected article master incl. sub-parts and linked drawings via HELiOS:

This function works essentially like the function above. Here, however, the active assembly is not derived, but the part or assembly to be derived is selected by selecting the corresponding article in HELiOS.

Profile Installation

Part filter for sub-parts
With the Find function in the transparent toolbar, the sub-parts of the profile installation can also be selected easily from SP1. These are:

  • Contour, cut,
  • Contour, uncut,
  • Sandwich panel, inside sheet,
  • Sandwich panel, outside sheet,
  • Insulation, and
  • Others, e.g. sealing chords

Coating
Up to now, the outside and inside colour could be selected from the catalogue textures and colours in the dialogue of the profile installation. From HiCAD 2023 SP1 on, the coating type is selected from the catalogue Factory standards > Surface treatment instead. This applies to the Other properties and Specializations tabs.

Pipeline Planning

Rotate part - Reverse orientation
The function Rotate part has been extended. It is now possible to reverse the orientation of a part.

Set weld seam gaps manually
The Add/remove gaps function is new. With this function, weld seam gaps can be added to or removed from pipelines.

VOSS-ZAKO flared flanges
The range of Plant Engineering has been extended by ZAKO flared flanges from the manufacturer VOSS.

Welding necks and handling of loose flanges
As of HiCAD 2023 SP1, there are now Welding necks as a new part type. On the one hand, these are designed to interact with the regular loose flanges. On the other hand, they support functionalities that are usually found in flanges. One example is the automatic placing on free ends and automatic counterflanging.

Align component connection tangentially via context menu
The Align connection tangentially function was previously only available in the context menu of a component connection. These are sometimes difficult to identify, especially in drawings with a lot of parts. To facilitate the use of this function, the function is also available in the context menu of pipe parts from HiCAD 2023 SP1.
