Service Pack 1 for HELiOS 2022 is now available. With the update to SP1, HELiOS 2022 supports the operating systems Windows 11 and Windows Server 2022, as well as the interface to Microsoft Office 2021. New program versions are also supported with regard to the integration modules, namely Zuken E3 2020 and 2021, as well as SOLIDWORKS 2022.
One developmental focus was to meet the requirements for international working. Since, for example, decimal separators differ from country to country (in some countries the comma (,) applies, in others the full stop (.)), HELiOS now allows both for entries of the data type FLOAT! Furthermore, the delivered databases of HELiOS 2022 Service Pack 1 contain newly assigned unit categories and correspondingly adapted masks for many (FLOAT) attributes. The default display units are in the metric system. The default configuration for result lists is set in such a way that unit symbols are displayed in column headings.
The multi-CAD area and the HELiOS Internet Server, too, have been further extended. Furthermore, the output via the HELiOS Spooler has been extended by the formats ToPs GEO (*.geo) for sheet metal developments and Navisworks (*.nwc and *.nwd) for model drawings.
Windows 11 and Windows Server 2022
With the update to Service Pack 1, HELiOS 2022 supports the operating systems Windows 11 and Windows Server 2022.
Locking Manager (formerly ReleaseNext)
Please note that the tool for unlocking HELiOS objects, which was called ReleaseNext in earlier versions, has been renamed to Locking Manager (Lockingmanager.exe) as of Service Pack 1. Also, the user interface and functionality have been revised.
Mask Editor: Improved element alignment functions
The range of functions of the Mask Editor has been improved to the extent that the alignment of elements also works across group boxes. This means, for example, that data fields from different group boxes can be aligned together. The group box elements are then moved automatically, provided there is sufficient space. If group boxes have to be extended (to the right or downwards), this also happens automatically, but the size is retained.
Workflow selection for object data input
If there are different Workflows that can be assigned to a HELiOS object type (e.g. a document) when the corresponding document input type is executed, you can make the selection via a pull-down menu at the bottom of the window. The selection via a separate dialogue window is no longer necessary.
Units contained in delivered database
The delivered databases of HELiOS 2022 Service Pack 1 contain newly assigned unit categories and correspondingly adapted masks for many FLOAT) attributes. The default display of units is in the metric system. The default configuration for result lists is set so that unit symbols are displayed in column headings. The changes primarily affect new installations of HELiOS; existing data and masks are not replaced by update installations.
Note on decimal separators
Decimal separators may differ from country to country: In some countries the comma (,) is used, in others the dot (.). In order to meet the requirements of international work, HELiOS always allows both for entries of the data type FLOAT!
ToPs GEO and Navisworks
The output via the spooler has been extended by the following formats:
However, the export as .nwd file is only possible if a licensed version of Navisworks is available on the Spooler server. With the Navisworks export via the Spooler - as with other formats - the entire model drawing is exported. The ToPs GEO export only exports sheet developments or developments of sheets that exist in the drawing.
Timeout configuration for HiCAD
Since times of more than 30 minutes may occur when processing very large .SZA files via the Spooler, the possibility has been created to set the duration for a timeout, i.e. to set when a process in a loop is to be aborted. For this purpose, the switch <timeout_minutes>30</timeout_minutes> is available in the system file AddIn.Hicad.Config.xml.
Updating Inventor drawing views
Autodesk Inventor updates drawing views first after opening a drawing. In previous HELiOS spooler versions, this could result in some views being exported to PDF as raster graphics, as the PDF output started before the update was complete in Inventor. To improve the quality of the output at this point, you can set a configurable amount of time for HELiOS to wait for any updates to views. This is done via the switch update_drawing_views_after_load in the configuration file AddIn.Inventor.Config.xml. If HELiOS detects that all views are up to date before the set time period has elapsed, the print or PDF output is carried out earlier.
Marking of invalid input fields in the model structure
As with the input dialogue of the function New in HELiOS, multi-CAD functions such as Derive model structure and Revision index for model structure now also issue warnings if there are incorrect value inputs, e.g. missing mandatory attributes. The corresponding field is then marked with an exclamation mark in the mask.
Indexing model structures
The new Revision index for model structure function is used to version HELiOS documents or parts and assemblies based on the CAD model structure, analogous to the functionality of the New in HELiOS input dialogue or the derived drawing. For each document you can select whether you want to index only this document or whether the link to an article should be taken over or broken up.
Zuken E3 2020 /2021
With the update to HELiOS 2022 Service Pack 1, the HELiOS/ZUKEN E3 interface also supports Zuken E3 Versions 2020 and 2021.
Performance
With the update to Service Pack 1, significant performance improvements could be achieved in the context of the HELiOS/HiCAD interface. For example, the transfer of the HiCAD product structure to the HELiOS database could be accelerated by a factor of 5.
International (non-metric) units
To further meet requirements for international work, the range of functions for displaying units (e.g. units of length or volume or time) was expanded accordingly with HELiOS 2022: With the help of HELiOS's attribute management, you can work at database attribute level with unit categories that also distinguish between EU and US units.
The HELiOS/HiCAD interface also implements this accordingly.
SOLIDWORKS 2022
With the update to Service Pack 1, HELiOS 2022 supports the current SOLIDWORKS version 2022.
Settings for documents
SOLIDWORKS standard parts that refer to the toolbox in the file system are exchanged for the standard part documents known in HELiOS when an assembly is saved. However, this normally does not happen for suppressed standard parts. To enable the exchange of corresponding standard part references during batch update, the HELiOS Options have been extended by the following possibility:
Under Settings for the Document, you can activate the Update file references for suppressed standard parts option under Behavior during batch update. In this case, the suppressed individual parts on the first level of an assembly are checked to see whether they are standard parts. If this is the case, the file references are exchanged. When the assembly is saved, the model structure is updated accordingly.
Replace components with the HELiOS Combined search
If in your SOLIDWORKS-HELiOS interface the setting Open via HELiOS in the Ribbon menu is active, then when calling the SOLIDWORKS function Replace Components and clicking the Browse button, the combined search of HELiOS is called in the following dialog to select the corresponding component from the database. in the following dialog the combined search of HELiOS will be called to select the corresponding component from the database.
Please note that SOLIDWORKS does not allow configuration-specific selection of a component, even though configuration-specific items can be selected in the HELiOS search. At this point, HELiOS may issue a warning about an ambiguous article context and open the document in the last saved configuration.
Replace model for drawings
Even if you work with the Replace Model function from the Drawing Ribbon of SOLIDWORKS or from the context menu of a drawing view, the Combined search function of HELiOS is called for this purpose, provided the Open via HELiOS setting is active
Description of missing part dependencies
If file references of assemblies are incorrect when calling New in HELiOS, e.g. because part dependencies are outside the context, you will be notified with a warning message. The corresponding file path and name is displayed. If you confirm the warning message query for a faulty reference with YES, the missing part dependency is pointed out next. If this is also accepted, the faulty component is then also displayed in the structure tree of the dialogue under Create with a corresponding representation and a note shown in brackets.
