Institut für spanende Fertigung

» to the ISF website

The ISF (Institut für Spanenede Fertigung) of the university in Dortmund deals with the research and teaching of all essential machining processes and their information technology-related aspects. The focus of research is on lathing, drilling, deep drilling, milling, grinding, honing and blasting. Many of these processes are performed with high speed computing (HSC) or high performance computing at the ISF, and are constantly perfected in the course of the internal research work. Other important fields of research are micro processing (during drilling, deep drilling and milling), the introduction of dry and minimal quantity processing, virtual machining processes based on various modelling concepts and the further optimisation of production technologies.
